Before configuring an email program to send and receive emails, you must first request an email to be setup for your domain.

Working with this tutorial

In the following examples replace the example information with the correct account information, i.e:

  • John Smith = <Your Name>
  • johnsmith@netregistry.net = <your.email@yourdomainname.tld>
  • netregistry.net = <yourdomainname.tld>

To Setup an email account with Outlook 2000

    1. Click Tools from the menu bar.
    2. Click Accounts from the drop down menu.
    3. Click [Add] and select Mail…

 

    1. Type the Display name for the email account.
    2. Click [Next].

       

 

    1. Type the Email address, e.g. johnsmith@netregistry.net.
    2. Click [Next].
    3. Complete the following information: My incoming mail server is a: Select POP3 or IMAP from the drop down. What’s the difference?.
      Incoming mail server:       pop.netregistry.net or imap.netregistry.net (depending which account type you’ve selected).
      Outgoing mail server:      smtp.netregistry.net or your Internet Service Provider’s (ISP) outgoing mail server.
    4.  Click [Next].
    5. Complete the following information: Account Name: The full email address of the account, e.g. johnsmith@netregistry.net
      Password:       The password used for this email account.
      Remember Password: Selected.
      Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA): Unselected.
    6.  Click [Next].
    7.  Click [Finish].
    8.  In the Internet Accounts window, select the email account just created (pop.netregistry.net), then click [Properties].
    9. Select the Servers tab.
    10.  Select My server requires authentication.
    11. Select the Advancedtab.

 

  1. In the Server Port Numbers window:

    With SSL Encryption
    This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) = Selected.
    Change the Outgoing mail(SMTP) number to 465.
    Use the following type of encrypted connection = SSL. Without SSL Encryption
    This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) = Unselected.
    Change the Outgoing mail (SMTP) number to 587.
    Use the following type of encrypted connection = None.
  2.  Click [OK].
  3.  Click [Close].

Congratulations you have now correctly setup your email account in Outlook 2000.
